Good deeds continue beyond Ramadan as Allah guides his servants towards righteousness

In today’s Friday sermon at the Grand Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Bandar Bin Abdulaziz Al-Balila emphasized the importance of piety and seeking Allah’s mercy. He highlighted that the opportunities for goodness never end, and the times of closeness to God are continuous. He reminded the worshipers that even though the blessed guest of Ramadan has left, the opportunities for righteousness persist. Ramadan serves as a time for spiritual growth, transformation, and a gateway for progress.
The Sheikh encouraged the continuation of acts of worship beyond Ramadan, specifically mentioning fasting six days in Shawwal after the month of fasting. He referenced a saying of the Prophet Muhammad about the significance of this practice, equating it to the reward of fasting for an entire year. He stressed the importance of consistency in obedience and worship, as recommended by Islam and exemplified by the Prophet’s actions and teachings.
Sheikh Al-Balila underscored the significance of turning to Allah in prayer, as God has promised to answer the calls of His servants. He cited the example of the Prophet’s supplication for steadfastness in faith and advised the congregation to seek divine guidance and stability in their religious practices. He emphasized the importance of sincere and consistent good deeds, cautioning against complacency and the potential pitfalls that can invalidate acts of righteousness.
At the Prophet’s Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdulmohsen Bin Muhammad Al-Qasim delivered the Friday sermon discussing the importance of maintaining consistent acts of worship such as prayers, remembrance, fasting, Quran recitation, charity, and supplication. He highlighted the need for believers to remain dedicated to their faith and continue performing acts of devotion regardless of the passing of time and seasons.
Sheikh Al-Qasim stressed the importance of seeking divine guidance and remaining steadfast in the face of challenges. He encouraged seeking Allah’s assistance in sustaining righteous deeds and expressed the necessity of a balance between excellence and fear of God in all actions. He reminded the audience that every moment spent away from obedience to God is a lost opportunity and that seeking forgiveness and repentance is essential at all times.
The Sheikh warned against neglecting acts of obedience and stressed the significance of consistency in performing even small acts of good, as they hold value in the sight of God. He emphasized the need for vigilance against falling short in one’s faith and advocated for a proactive approach towards opportunities for righteousness. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of ongoing acts of worship, such as fasting outside of Ramadan, nightly prayers, Quran recitation, supplication, and charity.
In summary, both Sheikh Al-Balila and Sheikh Al-Qasim underscored the importance of continuous devotion and righteousness in the life of a believer. They highlighted the value of seeking God’s guidance, maintaining steadfastness in faith, and striving for excellence in all actions. The sermons served as a reminder for the congregation to remain committed to acts of worship and righteousness, both during and beyond the blessed month of Ramadan.
