In May 2025, the General Transport Authority conducted an extensive series of inspections, totaling over 480,000 field audits across various transportation sectors, including land, marine, and rail. This initiative, executed in collaboration with several relevant agencies, yielded the identification of 52,189 violations throughout multiple cities and regions within the Kingdom.

The regulatory teams engaged in more than 437,585 inspections, primarily focusing on land transport activities. Additionally, marine transport inspections surpassed 10,489 operations, while railway inspections amounted to 145. This comprehensive monitoring underscores the Authority’s commitment to ensuring the safety of transport services for users and to enforcing compliance with established regulations among licensed operators.

The violations detected by the General Transport Authority ranged from the absence of cargo transport documentation to operating vehicles without valid driver permits. Furthermore, instances of operating transport vehicles lacking the necessary operational licenses were also recorded.

Compliance rates showed promising results, with the land transport sector achieving an impressive adherence level of 93%. The marine transport sector boasted an exceptional compliance rate of 99%, while the railway sector reached near-total compliance at approximately 100%. These statistics indicate a strong commitment from licensed operators to comply with the regulations and standards enforced by the General Transport Authority.

Notably, Mecca emerged as the region with the highest number of recorded violations, totaling 22,439. It was followed by Riyadh, which reported 11,294 violations. Medina registered 4,773 violations, while the Eastern Province recorded 4,765. Other regions such as Qassim (2,072 violations), Najran (2,010), Aseer (1,218), Tabuk (1,167), Jazan (1,099), Al-Jouf (675), Hail (528), Al-Baha (497), and the Northern Borders (344) also contributed to the overall statistics.

This robust examination process serves not only to enhance the safety of transport services but also to provide insights into the operational practices of transportation providers across the Kingdom. The findings emphasize the importance of regulatory oversight in maintaining high standards within the transportation industry and highlight the effective collaboration between the General Transport Authority and other agencies in fostering safe and compliant transport operations.

Moving forward, the General Transport Authority plans to increase its inspection activities, focusing on areas with higher instances of violations and targeting sectors with lower compliance rates. The goal is to further diminish the number of infractions and promote a culture of accountability among transport providers.

In conclusion, the extensive oversight conducted in May 2025 reflects the General Transport Authority’s unwavering dedication to safety and compliance within the transportation sector. With high rates of adherence to regulations among operators, the Authority is poised to continue fostering a reliable transport network that serves the needs of its users while adhering to strict safety and operational standards.
