Today, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center launched the project titled “Protection of Women Leading to Community Development.” This initiative is specifically designed to assist women affected by gender-based violence in the governorates of Aden and Taiz, in collaboration with the United Nations Women and Yemen’s Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor.

The project is expected to benefit approximately 18,000 women, including internally displaced persons and survivors of violence over a 12-month period. Additionally, it aims to support 325 frontline workers in safe spaces and protection centers. This initiative will not only enhance the capacities of local service providers but will also strengthen legal, psychological, and social support systems, with an anticipated indirect impact on around 126,000 individuals.

One of the primary objectives of the project is to bolster the protection of women and girls. It aims to improve the skills of those managing cases of violence, widen the scope of psychological and legal support services, and increase community awareness through educational campaigns focused on women’s rights.

Salah Al-Dhabiani, the director of the King Salman Relief Center in Aden, emphasized that this project forms part of the center’s broader mission to enhance protection and social services for the most vulnerable populations. He highlighted the importance of achieving sustainable results in empowering the targeted women and providing them with essential legal and social support.

Dina Zorba, the representative of UN Women in Yemen, expressed her gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly the King Salman Relief Center, for their generous support and humanitarian vision aimed at empowering women. She noted that this project goes beyond merely providing protection services; it embodies a comprehensive approach to restoring dignity, enhancing resilience, and enabling women to play active roles in peacebuilding and recovery efforts.
