Thunderstorms Expected in Several Regions Across the Kingdom

The National Center of Meteorology has released its weather report for today, forecasting significant rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms across several regions in the Kingdom, thanks to divine will. The precipitation is expected to be moderate to heavy, potentially leading to flash flooding. Areas affected include Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, Mecca, Medina, Hail, Qassim, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and the Northern Borders. In contrast, lighter to moderate rains are anticipated in the regions of Tabuk, Al-Jawf, and Najran.

The report further elaborates on the expected wind patterns over the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf. It indicates that the surface winds will primarily blow from the northwest to the north at speeds ranging from 20 to 40 km/h in the northern section, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h towards the Gulf of Aqaba. In the central region of the Red Sea, winds will shift from southeast to southwest, changing to western and then northwestern in the evening, moving at speeds of 10 to 30 km/h. Conversely, the southern part will experience winds from the south to the southwest, which will transition to southeast and then easterly in the evening at speeds of 15 to 35 km/h, potentially reaching 45 km/h as they approach the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.

The height of the waves is projected to range from one meter to one and a half meters in the northern area, escalating to two meters towards the Gulf of Aqaba. Meanwhile, the middle and southern regions are expected to experience wave heights from half a meter to one and a half meters, which could also reach two meters near the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. Overall, the sea conditions will be moderate in the northern section and mild to moderate in the central and southern portions.

On the other hand, the wind patterns over the Arabian Gulf will initially blow from the north to the northwest, shifting to west and subsequently to southwest in the evening, with speeds reaching between 12 to 32 km/h—occasionally exceeding 50 km/h as thunderstorms develop in the northern areas. The central and southern sections will see winds blowing from the west to the northwest at speeds of 10 to 30 km/h.

Wave heights in the Arabian Gulf will vary considerably, with anticipated heights ranging from half a meter to one meter, potentially surpassing two meters during thunderstorms in the northern region. The sea conditions here are expected to be light but may become choppy with the formation of rain-bearing clouds in the north.

In light of these weather warnings, authorities encourage residents in the affected regions to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The National Center of Meteorology continues to monitor the situation closely and will issue updates as necessary.

This forecast serves as a reminder of the dynamic and sometimes unpredictable nature of weather patterns, emphasizing the importance of preparedness during adverse conditions. As heavy rains can lead to swift changes in water levels and potential disruptions, it is vital for everyone in the impacted areas to stay informed and heed any warnings from local authorities.
