Minister of Transport Welcomes First Group of Hajj Pilgrims for 1446H Season at King Abdulaziz International Airport

In a coordinated effort involving various security agencies, operational entities, and private sector partners, His Excellency Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, warmly welcomed the initial group of Hajj pilgrims today, marking the commencement of the 1446H pilgrimage season. This significant event took place at the Hajj and Umrah terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, attended by representatives from numerous relevant agencies.

The inaugural flight, which arrived from Dhaka, Bangladesh, carried 396 pilgrims and is part of a series of flights scheduled to land today at both Jeddah Airport and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina.

In his address, Engineer Al-Jasser expressed his pride in the transportation and logistics framework that has been meticulously prepared to greet the first wave of pilgrims. He emphasized the commitment of the Saudi leadership to mobilize all available resources to ensure a seamless and secure experience for the guests of God. “Our aim is to deliver a safe and efficient transportation service that meets the expectations of pilgrims,” he stated.

To facilitate the influx of Hajj visitors, six primary airports have been designated to serve as gateways for the pilgrims. These include King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Airport in Medina, Prince Abdul Mohsin bin Abdulaziz Airport in Yanbu, Taif International Airport, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.

Engineer Al-Jasser further elaborated on the operational details, explaining that the flow of flights carrying pilgrims will persist in the upcoming days leading up to the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah. This structured approach aims to facilitate the pilgrimage experience from the moment of arrival to departure for each pilgrim, thereby reinforcing the Kingdom’s esteemed position as a leader in serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.
