إحباط خمس محاولات لتهريب 242,296 حبة إمفيتامين مخبأة في شاحنات عبر منافذ الربع الخالي والحديثة والدرّة

In a significant enforcement operation, the Saudi Authority for Zakat and Customs has successfully thwarted five attempts to smuggle a substantial quantity of methamphetamine, amounting to 242,296 pills. These illicit drugs were discovered concealed within several trucks and vehicles attempting to enter the Kingdom through various border crossings, namely the Empty Quarter, Al-Haditha, and Al-Durra.
According to Hamoud Al-Harbi, the official spokesperson for the Saudi Authority for Zakat and Customs, the first major seizure was made at the Empty Quarter checkpoint, where 202,570 pills were found hidden within specific compartments of a truck entering the country. At the Al-Haditha crossing, authorities intercepted three additional smuggling attempts. The first involved the discovery of 9,859 pills carefully concealed in custom-made hiding spots within a truck. The second attempt yielded 6,040 pills hidden among a shipment of electrical wires. The third success at this location resulted in the seizure of 11,424 pills, ingeniously concealed within the rotation column of a vehicle.
The fifth attempt occurred at the Al-Durra crossing, where law enforcement officials intercepted 12,403 pills that were similarly hidden in the rotation column of another vehicle.
Following these successful interceptions, Al-Harbi emphasized that coordination with the General Directorate for Drug Control was essential to apprehend the individuals responsible for receiving these confiscated drugs within the Kingdom. Two suspects have been identified in this case. He asserted that the authority is committed to enhancing customs supervision of both imports and exports, emphasizing the importance of protecting community safety from such dangers, and underlined the ongoing collaboration with the General Directorate for Drug Control.
Furthermore, Al-Harbi urged the public to participate in combating smuggling activities to safeguard society and bolster the national economy. He encouraged citizens and residents to report any suspicious activities related to smuggling by contacting the dedicated security hotline at 1910 or via email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa. An international number is also available at 009661910. The Authority ensures that all information regarding smuggling offenses and violations of the unified customs system will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, offering a financial reward for those providing accurate information leading to successful interventions.
This comprehensive campaign underscores the Saudi Authority for Zakat and Customs’ relentless efforts to curtail drug trafficking and protect the community from the pervasive threats posed by narcotics. The collaborative approach alongside the General Directorate for Drug Control showcases the multi-faceted strategy employed to safeguard public health and promote societal welfare in the Kingdom. By calling on citizens to remain vigilant and report potential smuggling activities, the authority is fostering a collective responsibility to eliminate drug-related threats and enhance the security framework throughout the region.
