Legal Committee Meeting Focuses on Enhancing Legislative Competitiveness in Saudi Arabia
Today, the Legal Committee of the National Center for Competitiveness held its eighth meeting at the center’s headquarters, chaired by the esteemed Dr. Majed bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors. The meeting also welcomed the participation of His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdulmalik Al Sheikh, the Minister of State and a member of the Council of Ministers. This committee comprises officials from the legal agencies and departments across 32 governmental entities.
During the meeting, the committee reviewed a comprehensive array of 27 initiatives it is actively pursuing, showcasing the outcomes derived from these projects. Key highlights included an examination of the “Governance of Legislative Delegation” study, alongside six advisory guidelines designed to bolster the functions of legal departments within governmental organizations. Additionally, the committee introduced a significant initiative titled the “Legislative Terminology Guide.” This project aims to develop reference materials for legislative terms in both Arabic and English, thereby enhancing the quality of legislative outputs and fostering a more stable legislative environment in the Kingdom.
The attendees were briefed on the committee’s concerted efforts to disseminate knowledge and empower competencies that would bolster the competitiveness of the legislative environment. The meeting included a review of the results from five sessions and workshops conducted by the committee. Noteworthy among these were discussions on the “Judicial Legislation Committee’s Experience in Studying Assigned Projects” and the “Future of Alternative Dispute Resolution in Light of Digital Transformation and UNCITRAL Provisions.”
