Weather Forecast and Temperatures for Saturday, May 24, 2025: What to Expect

Weather Forecast Overview: Hot and Dusty Conditions Predicted

The National Center of Meteorology has announced, in its weather report, expectations for hot to extremely hot conditions in the Eastern Province and the eastern parts of the Riyadh region. This intensification in temperature will persist, particularly affecting local residents and travelers in these areas.

The report emphasizes that active winds, which can stir up dust and sand, will continue to impact various locations, including Al-Qassim, Hail, the Northern Borders, Jouf, Tabuk, and Medina, with specific attention to the coastal areas of Makkah, where conditions may be particularly challenging. Such visibility-impairing weather can pose difficulties for those commuting or engaging in outdoor activities.

Moreover, the forecast indicates a continued potential for the formation of cumulonimbus clouds, which could bring about thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds in the southwestern highlands of the Kingdom. This phenomenon could lead to localized precipitation, enhancing the likelihood of rainfall in those elevated areas, which is a notable development given the typically arid climate of the region.

In terms of coastal conditions, the report describes surface wind patterns in the Red Sea shifting from the north to the northwest, with wind speeds ranging between 20 to 45 kilometers per hour. In certain areas, particularly toward the Gulf of Aqaba, speeds may escalate up to 55 kilometers per hour. Such wind activity will contribute to wave heights fluctuating between one to two and a half meters, with maximum waves potentially reaching three meters in the Gulf of Aqaba. The sea is expected to exhibit a moderate to rough texture, prompting maritime caution.

Conversely, conditions in the Arabian Gulf will feature surface winds blowing from the southwest to the northwest at speeds of 15 to 30 kilometers per hour. The height of the waves in this body of water is anticipated to range from half a meter to one and a half meters, maintaining a light to moderate wave condition, which is advisable for vessel operators to monitor closely.

All in all, the report underscores the importance of staying informed about the weather, especially for individuals in the affected regions. Citizens and visitors are advised to take necessary precautions against extreme heat and dust storms, as well as to stay alert for any updates regarding potential thunderstorms. With the presence of strong winds and changing wave conditions in coastal regions, it is crucial to exercise safety measures whether at sea or on land.

In summary, today’s forecast highlights substantial weather challenges that residents of various regions in Saudi Arabia may face, particularly in terms of high temperatures, dust-laden winds, and the possibility of thunderstorms in higher elevations. The emphasis on maritime conditions in both the Red Sea and Arabian Gulf also serves as a reminder of the complex interplay between land and sea weather, prompting a need for vigilance.
