King Salman’s Relief Program launches Saudi Hearing Volunteer Program for planting cochlear implants for children in Senegal

Dr. Aqeel bin Jamaan Al-Ghamdi, Assistant Supervisor General of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, launched the Saudi Hearing Volunteer Program in Senegal today. The program aims to plant cochlear implants and provide hearing rehabilitation for children in Senegal. It involves 14 volunteers from various medical specialties. The launch event was attended by Saad bin Abdullah Al-Nafie, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Senegal, Mamadou Mactar Sow, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Senegal, Siga Gab, the Director of Comprehensive Social Protection, Aisha Fall, the Technical Advisor to the Minister of Family and Solidarity, and several Arab ambassadors accredited to Senegal.

During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Aqeel highlighted that the volunteer medical team from the center will conduct 25 cochlear implant surgeries and provide hearing rehabilitation for children as part of the program. Additionally, a training session for 50 individuals on how to communicate with children with cochlear implants will be implemented. He emphasized that these initiatives reflect the noble humanitarian values instilled in the people of the Kingdom, through the efforts of volunteers and experts who generously contribute to various volunteer programs. He also emphasized the Kingdom’s global leadership role in humanitarian, relief, and volunteer fields, in line with the Vision 2030, which aims to foster a culture of volunteerism in Saudi society.

These programs are part of the voluntary medical efforts provided by Saudi Arabia through the King Salman Center for Relief to assist those in need and affected by various crises and challenges.
