In an effort to enhance animal health in the Kingdom, the National Center for Plant Protection, Animal Diseases, and Control (Waqaa) held the first meeting of the technical committee of the Veterinary Council for Dairy. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to improve the dairy industry in the country.
During the meeting, the epidemiological situation of brucellosis locally and globally was reviewed, along with monitoring indicators in this regard. The meeting also presented the World Organization for Animal Health’s classification of highly pathogenic avian influenza as an emerging disease in cattle. Additionally, the results of the epidemiological survey of animal diseases in dairy projects were discussed, as well as enhanced operational procedures for biosafety, rural breeding in this sector, and mechanisms for disclosing antibiotic consumption in dairy production projects.
It is worth mentioning that Waqaa aims to coordinate efforts between government and private entities in taking preventive and therapeutic measures to ensure the health and sustainability of plants and animals.
