Defense Minister Meets with Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces

Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Minister of Defense, met with the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, General Mohammad Bagheri, in Tehran today. Upon his arrival at the headquarters of the Iranian General Staff, Prince Khalid was welcomed with a formal reception, including the playing of the Saudi and Iranian national anthems. The honor guard was also on display as Prince Khalid greeted members of the Iranian delegation and shook hands with General Bagheri and the Saudi delegation.

The meeting focused on bilateral relations and future opportunities for military and defense cooperation between the two countries. Discussions also touched on regional developments and the efforts being made to address them.

In attendance from the Saudi side were Lieutenant General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, the Chief of the General Staff; Dr. Khaled bin Hussein Al-Biari, Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs; Khalid bin Fareed Hidarawi, Royal Court Advisor; Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber, Saudi Ambassador to Iran; Abdullah bin Saud Al-Ounzi, Saudi Ambassador to Yemen; Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif, Director General of the Ministry of Defense Office; and Brigadier General Khalid bin Ayed Al-Shalwi, Military Attaché at the Saudi Embassy in Tehran.

Representing Iran were Rear Admiral Shahram Iran, Navy Commander; Brigadier General Gholam Mahrab, Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence and Security Affairs; Brigadier General Mehdi Rabani, Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations; Brigadier General Abu Al-Qasim Frotan, Director General of the Chief of Staff Office; and several other officials.

Overall, the meeting served as an important platform to discuss mutual interests and strengthen relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, with a focus on military and defense cooperation, as well as regional security issues. The willingness of both parties to engage in dialogue and foster understanding was evident, signaling a positive step towards stability and cooperation in the region.
