Minister of Industry meets Presidential Envoy for Energy and Environment Affairs in Indonesia

The Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar Alkharif, met with the Special Presidential Envoy for Energy and Environment Affairs in Indonesia, Hashim Gojohadikusumo, in Jakarta yesterday. The two parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the mining and mineral sector, and deepen bilateral ties in the strategic mineral production field.
During the meeting, Minister Alkharif emphasized the strength of economic relations between the Kingdom and Indonesia, highlighting the importance of developing cooperation in the mining and mineral sector to achieve sustainable development goals. He pointed out the advancements in the mining sector in the Kingdom, aiming to make mining a cornerstone of the national industry and a key focus in the country’s efforts to diversify and enhance sustainable economic growth in line with Vision 2030.
On the other hand, the Special Presidential Envoy for Energy and Environment Affairs in Indonesia reviewed promising opportunities in the production of strategic minerals such as nickel and copper, underscoring the importance of enhancing cooperation with the Kingdom in the mining and mineral sector. Indonesia is globally recognized for its abundant mineral resources and leading production of various minerals including nickel, cobalt, copper, tin, and gold. The mineral sector contributed 11.9% to Indonesia’s total GDP in 2023.
This meeting is part of the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources’ current official visit to Indonesia, aiming to open new avenues for cooperation between the two countries in the industry and mining sectors, and explore promising investment opportunities.
