The 45th session of the Barakah Forum for Islamic Economics will kick off tomorrow under the theme “Islamic Banking in 50 years: Achievements of the Past and Hopes for the Future,” under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the governor of Medina region. The forum will feature a distinguished lineup of dignitaries, financial thought leaders, and representatives from international institutions in a significant intellectual and economic gathering at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz University in Medina.

This year, the forum will address six main topics and more than 20 sub-themes over two days. The aim is to highlight the contributions of Islamic banking to the advancement of Islamic economic thought, showcase its achievements in supporting development, justice, and sustainability, and explore its future in light of changing global challenges.

Youssef Khallawi, the Secretary-General of the Barakah Forum for Islamic Economics, emphasized that this edition represents a continuation of a scholarly journey that has spanned half a century. The forum has been a vital source of knowledge in developing economic thought and enhancing its role in building financial systems that promote justice and sustainability.

Khallawi stressed the importance of Islamic banking in driving economic growth and achieving its goals. He pointed out their efforts to highlight the evolution of this sector and explore its future by engaging and hosting a selected group of experts who contribute practical recommendations from an Islamic perspective. This enhances the forum’s reputation and solidifies its position as an annual reference point for specialists, as well as a leading intellectual and scientific platform in the Islamic world.
