The General Authority for Statistics released today the results of the Industrial Production Index for the month of February 2025. According to the bulletin, the index decreased by 0.2% compared to the same month in the previous year, influenced by a decline in mining and quarrying activities.
The sub-index for mining and quarrying activity showed a 0.7% decrease on an annual basis, while the sub-index for manufacturing activity increased by 0.2%. Additionally, the sub-index for electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply activities recorded a 1.1% increase. The sub-index for water supply, sewage, waste management, and remediation activities also saw a significant rise of 13.1%.
In terms of major economic activities, the results indicated a 1.6% decrease in the index for oil activities in February 2025, while the index for non-oil activities rose by 3.2%.
It is worth noting that the General Authority for Statistics issues the Industrial Production Index monthly. This economic indicator reflects relative changes in the volume of industrial production based on data from the industrial production survey. The survey is conducted on a sample of industrial establishments operating in targeted industrial activities, including mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, as well as water supply, sewage, waste management, and remediation activities.
