Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Minister of Energy, announced that Saudi Aramco has made 14 new discoveries of oil and natural gas fields in the Eastern Region and the Empty Quarter. This includes 6 oil fields and reservoirs, as well as 2 gas fields and 4 reservoirs.
The Minister congratulated King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince, who is also the Prime Minister, on these achievements and prayed for the continued security, safety, and prosperity of the Kingdom and its people.
In the Eastern Region, the oil field “Al Jaabu” was discovered, with very light Arabian oil flowing from well “Al Jaabu-1” at a rate of 800 barrels per day. Additionally, the “Sayahd” oil field was found with very light Arabian oil flowing from well “Sayahd-2” at a rate of 630 barrels per day. The “Aifan” oil field was also discovered, with very light Arabian oil flowing from well “Aifan-2” at a rate of 2840 barrels per day, accompanied by about 0.44 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day. The “Jubaila” reservoir was discovered in the “Al Bari” field with light Arabian oil flowing from well “Al Bari-907” at a rate of 520 barrels per day, accompanied by about 0.2 million standard cubic feet of natural gas. Additionally, the “Aneiza-A” reservoir was discovered in the “Mazalij” field, with excellent light Arabian oil flowing from well “Mazalij-64” at a rate of 1011 barrels per day, accompanied by about 0.92 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
In the Empty Quarter, the “Nuayr” oil field was discovered, with medium Arabian oil flowing from well “Nuayr-1” at a rate of 1800 barrels per day, accompanied by about 0.55 million standard cubic feet of natural gas. The “Ad Dammam” oil field was also discovered, with medium Arabian oil flowing from well “Ad Dammam-1” in the “Mushraf-J” reservoir at a rate of 200 barrels per day, and light Arabian oil flowing from “Mushraf-D” reservoir in the same well at a rate of 115 barrels per day. Additionally, the “Qarqas” oil field was discovered, with medium Arabian oil flowing from well “Qarqas-1” at a rate of 210 barrels per day.
Regarding natural gas, in the Eastern Region, the “Al Ghazlan” field was discovered, with natural gas flowing from well “Al Ghazlan-1” in the “Aneiza B/J” reservoir at a rate of 32 million standard cubic feet per day, accompanied by 2525 barrels of condensate. The “Aram” field was also discovered, with natural gas flowing from well “Aram-1” in the “Aneiza B/J” reservoir at a rate of 24 million standard cubic feet per day, accompanied by 3000 barrels of condensate. Additionally, the “Al Qusaiba” reservoir was discovered in the “Al Mahwaz” field in the Eastern Region, with unconventional natural gas flowing from well “Al Mahwaz-193101” at a rate of 3.5 million standard cubic feet per day, accompanied by 485 barrels of condensate.
In the Empty Quarter, the “Arab-J” reservoir was discovered in the “Marzouk” field, with natural gas flowing from well “Marzouk-8” at a rate of 9.5 million standard cubic feet per day. Additionally, the “Arab-D” reservoir was discovered in the same well, with natural gas flowing at a rate of 10 million standard cubic feet per day, as well as the “Jaabila Alawi” reservoir in the same well, with natural gas flowing at a rate of 1.5 million standard cubic feet per day.
In conclusion, the Minister highlighted that these discoveries serve as a qualitative addition to Saudi Arabia’s leading position in the global energy sector, showcasing rich hydrocarbon resources that open new avenues for economic development.
