Saudi Arabia Achieves 129% Self-Sufficiency in Dairy Products, Producing Over 2.6 Million Tons

The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has revealed that the Kingdom has achieved self-sufficiency in dairy products by up to 129%, solidifying its position as a leading producer in the dairy sector. During the awareness campaign titled “Our Table from Our Land” coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry highlighted the abundance of dairy products in the market, with production exceeding 2.6 million tons, demonstrating its vital role in meeting consumer needs during Ramadan.
The campaign aims to encourage the consumption of local products, including dairy and its derivatives such as cream, yogurt, milk, and other dairy products. It seeks to enhance the role of farmers and producers in achieving food security by supporting local production, improving the quality and safety of food products to ensure their continuity, especially during the holy month.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the quality of the animal wealth sector through local investments, ensuring product abundance in the markets, and improving the quality of offerings in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The Ministry highlighted that the animal wealth sector is a cornerstone in supporting dairy production in the Kingdom, consisting of over 7.4 million goats and approximately 502,000 cattle, contributing to meeting the local market’s dairy needs.
The sector has witnessed significant development through the adoption of the latest technologies in livestock breeding and animal production, enhancing productivity efficiency and ensuring resource sustainability. The campaign aims to raise community awareness of the importance of optimizing food consumption, reducing waste, and promoting the optimal utilization of available food resources.
Additionally, it aims to encourage the consumption of local products, support national farmers and producers to ensure food production sustainability, and enhance food security in the Kingdom.
