Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman Presides Over National Defense University Graduation Ceremony

Today, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Minister of Defense, attended the graduation ceremony for students at the National Defense University under the Ministry of Defense for the academic year 1446 AH. The event took place at the university’s premises in Riyadh.

Upon his arrival, Prince Khalid was warmly greeted by several dignitaries, including His Highness Prince Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Ayaf, the Deputy Minister of Defense; General Staff Chief Lieutenant General Fayad bin Hamid Al-Ruwaili; and His Excellency Mr. Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al-Saif, the Advisor to the Minister of Defense for Intelligence Affairs. Additionally, Major General Mohammed bin Jadoua Al-Ruwaili, President of the National Defense University, was also present to welcome the Minister.

As the Minister entered the venue, the national anthem was played, creating an atmosphere of pride and respect. Following this ceremonial opening, Prince Khalid proceeded to the designated area for the event, where he was briefed on the university’s offerings and the publications generated by its strategic studies center. The festivities commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, setting a reflective tone for the proceedings.

Subsequently, Prince Khalid observed a multimedia presentation that highlighted the university’s initiatives in training and preparing both military and civilian leaders. The presentation also showcased the development activities and events that underline the university’s commitment to institutional advancement. A special segment detailed the university’s journey and progress that has occurred since its inauguration, illustrating its role within professional military education systems and outlining plans for international partnerships.

Following these presentations, the results of the graduates from the Master’s programs in Strategic Studies (16th cohort) and Military Sciences (51st cohort) were announced. The programs saw participation from a diverse group of students representing various ministries, state sectors, and allied nations. The Minister took this opportunity to honor the distinguished graduates for their exceptional performance and achievements.

In a gesture of appreciation, the President of the university presented Prince Khalid with a commemorative gift, marking this significant occasion. The ceremony concluded with a group photo featuring the Minister alongside the graduates, capturing the moment of achievement and celebration. To wrap up the proceedings, the national anthem was played again, resonating throughout the venue.

The graduation ceremony was attended by numerous high-ranking officials, including His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Hussein Al-Biyari, the Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs; Lieutenant General Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Ghafili, the Deputy Chief of General Staff; and Lieutenant General Mazid bin Suleiman Al-Amr, Commander of the Air Defense Forces. Other distinguished attendees included Dr. Samir bin Abdulaziz Al-Tabeeb, Executive Advisor at the Ministry of Defense and Chief of the Ministry of Defense Development Program; Lieutenant General Fahd bin Hamad Al-Salman, Commander of Joint Forces; and Lieutenant General Fahd bin Saud Al-Jahani, Chief of Ground Forces, along with several senior military officials and military attaches stationed in the Kingdom.

The event highlighted the importance of military education and its role in shaping capable leaders who can navigate complex security environments, thereby contributing to the Kingdom’s defense strategy and fostering international collaboration. The presence of diverse participants from different countries illustrated the university’s commitment to enhancing global partnerships and knowledge exchange in the field of defense and military studies.
