King Salman Relief Center’s Health Services in Zaatari Refugee Camp
In the first week of May 2025, the clinics of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Work provided crucial health services to a total of 2,789 individuals residing in the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan. This center, dedicated to alleviating the suffering of Syrian refugees, is instrumental in addressing their healthcare needs amidst ongoing challenges.
During this period, the general medicine clinics received 778 patients. A notable 128 of these individuals sought assistance from the internal medicine clinic, primarily dealing with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma. Moreover, the child healthcare clinic catered to 226 young patients, ensuring their specific health needs were met. Dental services were also in high demand, as evidenced by the 131 patients who visited the dental clinics for various treatments.
Recognizing the unique health requirements of women, the center provided services to 312 female patients through its women’s health clinics. In addition, the ear, nose, and throat clinic reported consultations from 66 patients suffering from issues such as sinus infections, pharyngitis, and middle ear problems. The ophthalmology clinic, though smaller in numbers, managed to attend to 37 patients, addressing their visual health concerns.
Heart health was also a priority, with the cardiology clinic welcoming 15 patients for evaluations. Furthermore, the diagnostic radiology clinic handled 37 patients, aiding in the identification of various health conditions. The rehabilitation clinic saw another 37 patients, focusing on promoting recovery and improving quality of life.
In terms of laboratory services, a total of 3,245 tests were performed for 284 patients, reflecting the rigorous efforts to diagnose and monitor health issues effectively. Additionally, the center conducted 217 imaging procedures, including X-rays and ultrasounds, for 184 patients, underscoring their commitment to comprehensive medical care.
Immunization remains a vital part of public health, and during this week, a total of 366 vaccines were administered in the vaccination clinic. Public health education is also crucial, and the center hosted 19 sessions aimed at raising awareness and providing information to improve health practices among the refugee population.
Physical therapy services experienced significant engagement, with 169 treatment sessions conducted in the physiotherapy department. These sessions are essential for improving mobility and recovery among patients, further illustrating the center’s dedication to holistic care.
