Al-Hakil’s visit to Russia aims to boost cooperation in municipal services and urban development.

Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hoqail, will begin an official visit to the Russian Federation next Monday to enhance cooperation in the fields of municipal services, urban planning, and urban development. The visit is part of the Kingdom’s efforts to exchange expertise and build international partnerships that support Saudi cities in achieving the goals of Vision 2030. During the visit, the minister will hold a series of official meetings with Russian officials, including Minister of Construction and Housing, Eirik Fayzulin, and leaders of specialized bodies and centers in city organization and infrastructure. They will discuss areas of cooperation in developing municipal facilities, implementing smart city concepts, and improving efficiency in urban areas.

The purpose of the visit is to learn from the Russian experience in managing major cities, integrating transportation systems, and coordinating public spaces to improve quality of life, enhance service management efficiency, and promote urban sustainability in Saudi cities. The visit also includes discussions on opportunities for signing quality cooperation agreements and forming joint working teams between municipal authorities in both countries to monitor the implementation of initiatives and exchange expertise in energy efficiency, waste management, urban greening, and smart infrastructure. This is particularly important as the Kingdom prepares to host future global events.
