Saudi dates continue to dominate global markets with exports exceeding 1.695 billion riyals

The National Center for Palm and Dates revealed a significant increase in Saudi Arabia’s date exports in 2024, reaching a value of 1.695 billion riyals. According to data from the General Authority for Statistics, date production in the Kingdom exceeded 1.9 million tons in the same year, demonstrating the country’s high production capacity in the palm and date sector.
Saudi dates have gained notable popularity in global markets, with exports reaching 133 countries worldwide. This marks a 15.9% increase in value compared to 2023, attributed to continuous efforts to enhance the quality of Saudi dates and expand their global marketing reach. It emphasizes the growing importance of the palm and date sector in supporting the national economy and diversifying sources of income.
In line with the launch of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its pivotal role in enhancing non-oil revenues, Saudi date exports have undergone a significant transformation. Since 2016, the value of the Kingdom’s date exports has increased by a staggering 192.5% until 2024. This cumulative annual growth of 12.7% reflects the Kingdom’s continued success in solidifying its position as a leading date exporter in international markets. These numbers underscore the increasing significance of Saudi dates and their role in enhancing global food security.
This achievement is a continuation of the strong support from the wise leadership – may God support them – for the palm and date sector, considering it a fundamental pillar of the Kingdom’s cultural and heritage identity. This success is also a result of the collaborative efforts between date producers, exporters, and government entities to facilitate export procedures and enhance market penetration globally through effective partnerships with the private sector.
