المحكمة العليا تدعو الجميع لترقب رؤية هلال شهر ذي الحجة مساء الثلاثاء المقبل

The Supreme Court has issued a call for all Muslims across the Kingdom to actively seek the sighting of the crescent moon for the month of Dhul-Hijjah on the evening of the upcoming Tuesday, which falls on the 29th of Dhul-Qi’dah in the year 1446 AH.

In a statement, the Supreme Court expressed gratitude to Allah, proclaiming, “Praise be to Allah, Lord of all worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his companions.” The court further elaborated that, according to its Resolution No. (194/H) dated 29/10/1446 AH, Tuesday, 1/11/1446 AH, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar, corresponds to the 29th of April 2025. Therefore, the Supreme Court urges all Muslims to observe the moon of Dhul-Hijjah on the evening of Tuesday, 29/11/1446 AH, equivalent to 27/5/2025 AD.

The court encourages anyone who is able to sight the crescent, either by the naked eye or through telescopes, to report their observation to the nearest court and document their testimony. Alternatively, they are advised to contact the closest center for assistance in reaching the appropriate court.

Moreover, the Supreme Court expresses a hope that those capable of moon sighting will take this matter seriously, join local committees established for this purpose, and earn spiritual rewards through their involvement. This participation is seen as a way to foster cooperation in righteousness and piety, ultimately benefiting the broader Muslim community.

In summary, the Supreme Court’s announcement serves a dual purpose: it underlines the significance of the moon-sighting tradition within the Islamic calendar, specifically regarding the month of Dhul-Hijjah—an essential period that leads up to the annual pilgrimage of Hajj. Active participation in this observance not only facilitates the timely marking of important religious events but also emphasizes the collective responsibilities of Muslims to engage in faith-driven communal activities.

By calling upon individuals to report their moon sightings, the Supreme Court aims to create a systematic approach to validating the lunar month, thereby allowing for coherent planning and participation in the upcoming Eid al-Adha and other religious observances.

The overarching message encapsulated in the statement is one of unity, encouragement, and spiritual engagement among the Muslim populace. This initiative invites both personal and communal involvement in a cherished religious practice, providing an avenue for Muslims to contribute to the observance of critical worship periods that define their faith and cultural heritage. The Supreme Court’s appeal underscores the shared values of cooperation and collective action in fulfilling religious duties while engaging with the traditions that bind the community together.

The court concludes its call with a prayer for success and blessing upon the Prophet Muhammad and his companions, reinforcing the spiritual essence of this announcement and encouraging Muslims to embrace their responsibilities toward their faith and collective future.
