Arrest of 34 Border Security Violators Linked to 720 Kilograms of Smuggled Qat

Border Security Forces Arrest Ethiopian Nationals for Drug Trafficking in Saudi Arabia

The Border Guard Patrols in the Dayer Sector of the Jazan region have successfully apprehended twelve individuals of Ethiopian nationality who were found to be in violation of the border security regulations. These individuals were allegedly involved in the smuggling of 280 kilograms of khat, a plant known for its psychoactive properties. After the initial legal procedures were completed, the apprehended individuals, along with the seized substance, were handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.

In light of such incidents, security agencies are urging both citizens and residents to report any information pertaining to drug trafficking or similar illegal activities. Reports can be made via designated hotlines, including “911” for the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and “999” and “994” for the remainder of the kingdom. Additionally, the General Directorate for Narcotics Control can be contacted at “995.” Communications can also be sent through email at 995@gdnc.gov.sa. Authorities assure that all reports will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

In a similar enforcement operation, the Border Guard Patrols in the Rabou’a Sector of the Asir region apprehended twenty-two individuals, also of Ethiopian nationality, involved in the smuggling of 440 kilograms of khat. Like the previous case, initial legal procedures were promptly followed, and both the detainees and the confiscated goods were turned over to the relevant authorities for further processing.

Given the persistent challenges posed by drug trafficking, law enforcement agencies are emphasizing the importance of community vigilance. Citizens and expatriates play a critical role in reporting suspicious activities that may be related to drug smuggling or distribution. The need for communal cooperation in combatting these illicit activities is paramount, as drug trafficking poses significant risks to public safety and societal well-being.

Furthermore, the security apparatus is committed to maintaining a robust communication network to facilitate prompt reporting and response to drug-related offenses. The available hotlines have been established to ensure quick and easy access to law enforcement, enabling prompt action against drug smugglers and dealers.

The government’s proactive stance in tackling narcotics smuggling underscores its commitment to safeguarding the community from the adverse effects of drugs. By encouraging public involvement and ensuring a secure channel for reporting, authorities aim to create a united front against drug-related crimes.

The border controls and enforcement measures being implemented highlight a decisive approach to curbing the flow of narcotics into the kingdom. Such operations not only disrupt the activities of traffickers but also contribute to the overall safety and security of the society at large.

In conclusion, the recent arrests in both the Jazan and Asir regions serve as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in Saudi Arabia. The authorities remain vigilant and are reinforcing calls for public participation in reporting illegal activities. This collaborative approach is deemed essential in the fight against narcotics, ensuring a healthier and safer environment for all residents.
