أولى رحلات الحجاج الإيفواريين تنطلق إلى المدينة المنورة ضمن مبادرة “طريق مكة”

On a significant day for the Hajj pilgrimage, the first contingent of beneficiaries from the “Road to Makkah” initiative departed from Côte d’Ivoire via the initiative’s designated lounge at Abidjan International Airport. This inaugural flight is headed to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to facilitate comfortable travel for pilgrims. The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the Saudi Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Saad bin Bakhit Al-Qathami, and various Ivorian officials such as the Minister of Interior and Security, Vagondo Camara, and the Minister of Transport, Amadou Kone.
The “Road to Makkah” initiative is designed to streamline the pilgrimage experience for participants from various countries, ensuring they receive quality services right from their homeland. This comprehensive program begins with the collection of biometric data and the electronic issuance of Hajj visas. Subsequently, it involves the efficient processing of travel documents at the point of departure, ensuring that all health requirements are met prior to the journey.
One of the hallmarks of this program is its approach to luggage management. Pilgrims’ baggage is tagged and sorted in accordance with their transportation and accommodation arrangements within Saudi Arabia. This meticulous planning allows for a seamless transition as pilgrims move directly from the airport to pre-arranged buses, which transport them to their respective lodgings in the holy cities of Makkah and Medina. Furthermore, partner agencies are tasked with ensuring that the luggage follows them, easing the travel burden on the pilgrims.
As the Department of Interior marks the seventh year of implementing this initiative, it collaborates with various other ministries—including those of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and Media. Additional support comes from the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the General Authority of Awqaf, the Guests of Allah Program, and the General Directorate of Passports. This extensive partnership underscores the initiative’s significance and the commitment to enhance the experience of those undertaking the sacred pilgrimage.
The successful commencement of flights under the “Road to Makkah” initiative highlights the dedication to providing high-quality, convenient services for the diverse needs of pilgrims. It also reflects the broader commitment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to ensure that Hajj remains accessible and well-organized for millions of Muslims around the world.
As global pilgrim numbers continue to rise, such initiatives are essential in maintaining a smooth and satisfactory experience. By addressing logistical challenges and facilitating key processes, the program paves the way for an increasingly organized and fulfilling Hajj journey. The government’s proactive measures and the collaboration of multiple agencies not only serve to enhance the pilgrimage experience but also aim to create a model that could potentially be emulated in other contexts to promote efficiency in mass travel and religious observance.
This initiative exemplifies how nations can work together to ensure that their citizens are afforded the best possible experience during significant life events, such as the Hajj. It illustrates a deeper understanding of the requirements and expectations of pilgrims, fostering goodwill and cooperation between nations. With continued support and dedication, the “Road to Makkah” initiative promises to facilitate many more successful journeys in the years to come.
