Authorities Foil Attempt to Smuggle 17.6 Kilograms of Narcotics at Raba’a Al-Khali Border Crossing

Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority thwarts an attempt to smuggle 17.6 kilograms of the drug substance methamphetamine (Shabu) at the empty quarter border crossing. The authorities discovered the illegal substance hidden inside a vehicle coming into the kingdom through the border.
During a routine inspection of a truck at the empty quarter border crossing, officials found the Shabu concealed in the fuel tank of a vehicle being transported on the truck. Following the seizure, coordination was made with the General Directorate for Drug Control to apprehend the recipients of the confiscated drugs within the kingdom, who were subsequently arrested.
The Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority reiterated its commitment to strict customs control on the kingdom’s imports and exports, safeguarding society and protecting it from such hazards. This is done in collaboration and continuous coordination with the General Directorate for Drug Control.
The authority urged everyone to contribute to combating smuggling to protect society and the national economy. They can do so by contacting them through the dedicated security reports number (1910), via email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or through the international number (009661910). The authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law through these channels in complete confidentiality, with the promise of a financial reward for the informant if the information provided is accurate.
