Maritime Sector Leaders Explore Ways to Enhance Innovation

The General Authority of Transport organized the second annual forum for sea vessel owners and operators in the Kingdom under the patronage of Dr. Rami bin Mohammed Al-Rami, the acting President of the Authority. The event took place in Al-Khobar and was attended by more than 120 maritime sector leaders who participated in dialogues focusing on enhancing innovation in the promising sector. The discussions also covered digital transformation in areas such as maritime security, vessel safety, and worker safety, as well as increasing the operational efficiency of the Saudi fleet.
The forum included presentations of best practices adopted by maritime companies, as well as highlighting quality initiatives from both the public and private sectors aimed at improving the efficiency of the maritime sector and facilitating a business-friendly environment. On the sidelines of the forum, the General Authority of Transport signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Norwegian classification society, “DNV,” a leading global entity in ship classification and certification. The agreement aims to exchange expertise and knowledge in research and development to reduce carbon emissions, enhance maritime safety standards, develop risk management systems, and implement international best practices in the Kingdom’s maritime sector.
The acting President of the General Authority of Transport expressed gratitude to the leadership for their continuous support of the maritime sector, emphasizing that the annual forum is a continuation of the Authority’s efforts to develop the maritime sector. It reflects a commitment to raising awareness among partners in this vital field and improving their efficiency by providing platforms that bring together experts and specialists under one roof.
He explained that through this forum, the Authority aims to activate communication channels between various stakeholders in the maritime sector to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, practical experience, and successful practices that contribute to achieving sustainable growth in the sector.
