Saudi Arabia Condemns and Denounces Attacks on Refugee Camps near El Fasher City in Western Sudan

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned and expressed outrage over the recent attacks on displaced persons’ camps near the city of El Fasher – specifically Zamzam and Abu Shouk camps – in western Sudan. These attacks resulted in the deaths and injuries of numerous individuals, in clear violation of international law and humanitarian law.
The Ministry emphasized the Kingdom’s rejection of such violations, emphasizing the need to provide protection for humanitarian workers and the importance of ceasing attacks and avoiding targeting civilians. It also stressed the importance of implementing the Jeddah Declaration “Commitment to Protect Civilians in Sudan” signed on May 11, 2023. The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of the deceased, and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
