Saudi Arabia Demonstrates Continued Pursuit of Harnessing Unique Benefits of Outer Space

On the occasion of International Human Space Flight Day, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is showcasing its commitment to harnessing the unique benefits of outer space. Recognizing the importance of space exploration and utilization for the benefit of humanity, the country is focusing on developing national policies and strategies, monitoring their implementation, and enhancing the space sector. This day, celebrated on April 12 each year, commemorates the launch of the first human-made satellite, Sputnik 1, into outer space on October 4, 1957. It also marks the beginning of the space age and the first human spaceflight on April 12, 1961, by Soviet citizen Yuri Gagarin. These milestones paved the way for the exploration of space for the benefit of humanity.
