Monarch of Saudi Arabia Leads Cabinet Meeting

King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired a cabinet meeting in Jeddah today. The cabinet discussed a message from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received from Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki, and their meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. They also reviewed the outcomes of meetings between the Crown Prince and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, highlighting the Kingdom’s support for international efforts to resolve the crisis in Ukraine and praising the strong economic ties between the two countries.
The cabinet welcomed the start of US-Ukraine talks in the Kingdom, emphasizing its balanced relationships and leadership role in promoting global security and peace. They commended the OIC Foreign Ministers extraordinary meeting’s rejection of calls for the displacement of the Palestinian people and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to a two-state solution.
The cabinet lauded Syrian leadership’s efforts to maintain domestic peace and build state institutions to achieve security and stability. They reiterated full support for Syrian unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Additionally, they expressed gratitude towards Islamic scholars and intellectuals for their positive sentiments towards the Kingdom during the international conference in Mecca titled “Bridging Differences Among Islamic Sects”.
In local matters, the cabinet marked Flag Day as a reaffirmation of Saudi Arabia’s pride in its national symbols and values. They praised the National Campaign for Charitable Work for fostering a culture of compassion and unity in Saudi society, emphasizing the government’s significant support for this sector. The cabinet also acknowledged positive economic growth rates in 2024, reflecting the success of Vision 2030 programs and major national projects.
Furthermore, the cabinet authorized several agreements, including cooperation in knowledge and publishing between the King Fahd National Library and the Gulf Cooperation Council, training collaboration between Saudi Ministry of Sports and Arab Organization for Administrative Development, and agreements on prisoner transport with Vietnam, political consultations with El Salvador, anti-crime efforts with the UN, and customs matters with Kosovo and Tajikistan.
Moreover, the cabinet approved appointments and promotions within various government agencies, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing expertise and leadership in key sectors. They also reviewed reports from the General Authority for Media Regulation, Saudi Development Fund, Saudi Export-Import Bank, and Small and Medium Enterprises Bank.
