مركز التنافسية و(London Business School) يبرمان اتفاقية لتعزيز مكانة المملكة كنموذج عالمي في السياسات الاقتصادية التحولية

The National Center for Competitiveness and the London Business School have embarked on a significant partnership aimed at creating academic content and case studies grounded in the economic and developmental reforms undertaken by Saudi Arabia. This collaboration seeks to integrate such material into the executive education programs at the London Business School, positioning Saudi Arabia as a leading example of transformative economic policies within the global academic landscape.

The agreement was formalized in a signing ceremony held in London, attended by Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the National Center for Competitiveness, alongside Professor Sergey M. Guriyev, Dean of the London Business School. The meeting served as a platform for discussions surrounding potential collaborative initiatives, including the establishment of joint programs and tailored executive courses designed for Saudi leadership, specifically focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship.

In addition to these educational ventures, discussions included the initiation of training and capacity-building programs. These programs would enable the participation of Saudi experts in executive courses in the UK, as well as explore opportunities for expanding knowledge exchange and enhancing research partnerships.

Prior to this signing, Dr. Al Qasabi met with Peter Todd, Dean of the Business School at Imperial College London, and Professor Larry Kramer, President of the London School of Economics and Political Science. The conversations revolved around collaboration with Saudi educational institutions, particularly in the areas of entrepreneurship, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and connecting Saudi startups with innovation hubs and research incubators. Additionally, they addressed utilizing the distinctive expertise and knowledge offered by these institutions to aid in transitioning towards a knowledge-based economy. This collaboration is expected to extend into technology, artificial intelligence, talent development, and applied research.

Dr. Al Qasabi’s meetings were part of a broader Saudi delegation consisting of officials from nine governmental entities and 35 leaders from major national businesses. The delegation, led by the Minister of Commerce, aims to track the progress of initiatives stemming from the Saudi-British Strategic Partnership Council, enhance relationships across various priority economic sectors, and elevate cooperation between the two nations.

One of the key activities during the delegation’s visit was a roundtable discussion focusing on Saudi-British sports cooperation, organized by the National Center for Competitiveness in collaboration with the UK Department for Business and Trade. This event aimed to inform businesses about the lucrative opportunities arising from Saudi Arabia’s hosting of international sporting events, such as the upcoming World Cup in 2034.

The roundtable, part of the “GREAT Futures” initiative, explored cooperative avenues in sectors supporting the sports industry, including technology, infrastructure, construction, facility operation, and the planning and execution of large-scale events. Furthermore, the delegation undertook a site visit to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where they gained insights into the facilities, capacities, and experiences associated with hosting entertainment and sports events.

Participating in this visit were various ministries, including Commerce, Sports, Investment, Finance, along with the Higher Authority for Hosting the 2034 World Cup, the Public Investment Fund, the National Center for Competitiveness, the Saudi Business Center, the National Center for Privatization, as well as several leading national companies specializing in sports events, infrastructure, and media.

Overall, this partnership between the National Center for Competitiveness and the London Business School represents a strategic initiative to enhance Saudi Arabia’s educational and economic landscape, further solidifying its position as a key player in global economic transformation. By integrating advanced business education and fostering international partnerships, Saudi Arabia aims to cultivate a robust ecosystem that promotes innovation, leadership, and sustainable economic growth.
