Third South-South Dialogue Forum Launched in Rabat
The capital of Morocco, Rabat, proudly hosted the third edition of the South-South Dialogue Forum today, led by a distinguished delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi delegation was headed by His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, the Chairman of the Shura Council. The forum, entitled "Inter-Regional and Continental Dialogues in Southern Countries as a Key Lever to Address New Challenges in International Cooperation and Achieve Peace, Security, Stability, and Joint Development," is being organized by the Moroccan House of Councillors in collaboration with the Association of Senates, Shoora Councils, and Similar Councils in Africa and the Arab World.
During the opening session, His Excellency Mohammed Walid Al-Rachid, President of the Moroccan House of Councillors and head of the aforementioned association, expressed his warm welcome to all participants, including leaders from various parliaments and parliamentary federations. He emphasized that the forum has evolved into a leading parliamentary platform for dialogue, vision-sharing, and the coordination of efforts concerning diverse issues that are regionally, continentally, and internationally relevant. This collaborative approach is pivotal as we face burgeoning challenges and aim to seize opportunities linked to sustainable development, security, and stability.
The forum intends to address several pressing topics throughout its sessions, particularly focusing on the role of inter-regional initiatives and dialogues in boosting economic integration and cooperative development among Southern nations. It will also scrutinize the impact of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in fostering development and industrial progress within these countries.
Among the notable attendees were the official delegation accompanying the Shura Council Chairman, including the Secretary-General of the Council, Mr. Mohammed bin Dakhel Al-Mutairi, council members Mr. Faisal bin Abdullah Abu Bashit and Dr. Ishraq bint Ali Rafai, along with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Morocco, Dr. Sami bin Abdullah Al-Saleh, as well as several other officials from the Shura Council.
The discussions are poised to explore collaborative frameworks that will facilitate economic growth and inter-regional cooperation, highlighting the significance of joint efforts in overcoming shared obstacles.
