King Salman launches groundbreaking for model oasis farm project in Socotra Archipelago

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center laid the foundation for a project to establish and develop a model farm in the Socotra Archipelago in collaboration with the World Food Program (WFP). The project includes building a protective fence around the farm, constructing a 30-cubic-meter water tank, rehabilitating agricultural lands with a drip irrigation system powered by solar energy, plowing a 5.5-acre area benefitting several families.
The Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries Wealth, Major General Salem Al-Saqqaf, expressed profound gratitude to Saudi Arabia, represented by the King Salman Center for Relief, for the significant support. He emphasized that these efforts will contribute to the development of the agricultural and fishing sectors in the Socotra Archipelago, enhancing local production of vegetables and fruits. Additionally, he mentioned plans to establish model farms in various areas and rehabilitate collective farms, support tobacco farms in Trawph, and assist 24 household gardens benefiting 700 families in Qalansia and Hadibu.
These initiatives are part of a series of humanitarian projects and programs provided by Saudi Arabia through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, aimed at supporting the agricultural and fishing sectors and promoting food security and sustainable development in Yemen.
