The Public Authority for Roads recently released a statement detailing the extensive services provided to pilgrims during this year’s Hajj season, highlighting significant contributions from various sectors that resulted in a notably successful pilgrimage for 1446 AH.

According to the authority, over 5 million vehicles traversed the routes leading to Mecca and Medina during the Hajj period. Notably, more than 500,000 pilgrims benefitted from the cold asphalt pathways established in the holy sites. Additionally, around 1,900 pilgrims were accommodated at mobile service centers equipped with air conditioning, comfort areas, restrooms, as well as food and beverage services. The “Road Tent” initiative alone supported approximately 2,700 pilgrims, while around 350,000 individuals took advantage of the enhanced road safety measures implemented on paths leading to these sacred destinations.

The statement also indicated that a total of 7,401 kilometers of roads leading to the holy sites in Mecca and Medina underwent maintenance.
