The General Authority for Ports, known as “Mawani,” has announced that the shipping company Evergreen has launched a new maritime service dubbed “ARPG” at the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam. This new service is set to enhance maritime connectivity between Saudi Arabia and global markets, reinforcing the pivotal role of the port and boosting its competitiveness among exporters, importers, and shipping agents.

The ARPG service will link the King Abdulaziz Port to nine regional and international ports, including Port Klang in Malaysia, Laem Chabang in Thailand, Vung Tau in Vietnam, Kaohsiung in Taiwan, along with Yantian, Ningbo, and Shanghai in China, in addition to Umm Qasr in Iraq and Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates. This initiative provides a substantial capacity, accommodating up to 9,466 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

This development is part of Mawani’s broader strategic efforts to improve Saudi Arabia’s rankings in global performance indicators and to enhance operational efficiency at the King Abdulaziz Port. The aim is to facilitate the movement of both exports and imports in alignment with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. This strategy focuses on establishing the Kingdom as a significant global logistics hub and a key connection point between three continents.

King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam boasts superior operational and logistical capabilities, supported by 43 fully equipped service berths and a remarkable capacity of handling 105 million tons of cargo and containers. It is further enhanced by specialized terminals and advanced equipment, allowing for the efficient handling of a variety of goods.

The introduction of the ARPG service is expected to not only improve trade routes but also significantly contribute to the economic landscape of the region by streamlining supply chain processes and reducing transit times. By enhancing logistical connections, the service aims to attract more business opportunities and bolster the overall productivity of the Saudi ports.

Mawani’s commitment to elevating Saudi Arabia’s strategic position on the global logistical map is evident through initiatives such as this. The ARPG service is seen as a catalyst for further investments into the maritime sector, fostering a more dynamic trade environment. This aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which emphasizes diversification of the economy and the development of key sectors, including logistics.

Moreover, the impact of the ARPG service goes beyond just the immediate benefits to the King Abdulaziz Port; it is poised to create a ripple effect across various industries by enhancing the efficiency of trade operations. As shipping routes become more direct and streamlined, businesses can expect reduced costs and increased service reliability, which are critical factors for thriving in today’s competitive global market.

The competitive advantage of the port is further solidified by its capacity to handle diverse types of cargo, ranging from bulk goods to specialized shipments, thanks to its state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. This capability not only meets the needs of importers and exporters but also positions the port as an attractive option for international shipping lines looking to optimize their logistics operations.

In conclusion, the launch of the ARPG service at King Abdulaziz Port by Evergreen marks a significant advancement in Saudi Arabia’s maritime shipping landscape. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s strategic vision to enhance its global standing in logistics and trade, while simultaneously providing a reliable and efficient service for its business partners in various sectors.
