Leader of Al-Madinah Region Congratulates Leadership on Achievements of Kingdom’s Vision 2030: Landmark Accomplishments and Development Leaps praised

Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, the governor of the Medina region, congratulated King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, on the occasion of the release of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 annual report for 2024. He praised the Kingdom for its remarkable achievements and developmental leaps during the journey of this blessed vision.
He emphasized that Vision 2030 has been a turning point in the national development path, showcasing the wise leadership and limitless ambition. He applauded the significant economic, social, and urban development indicators in the Medina region, attributing these to major vision projects like the “Visions of Medina” and the expansion project of Quba Mosque.
The positive indicators in the region have propelled it to a global rank of 67 in the IMD Smart City Index for 2025. There have been 58 initiatives within the Guest of the Merciful program, 104 within the Quality of Life program, and 30 within the National Industry and Logistics Development program, all contributing to rapid GDP growth, increased foreign investment, improved healthcare and education services.
The initiatives and executive programs of Vision 2030 have also lowered the unemployment rate to 8.4% in the fourth quarter of 2024. More than 18 million visitors from outside the Kingdom visited Medina last year, with the city ranking seventh globally in the tourism performance index. It was also listed among the top 100 global tourist destinations for 2024 by Euromonitor International.
The number of passengers passing through Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport exceeded 10 million last year, with the Medina region witnessing a 2800% increase in foreign investment inflows since 2019. The region has also launched new flights connecting Medina with European capitals and cities worldwide. The Haramain High-Speed Railway has transported over 9 million passengers between Medina and other stations.
Additionally, the support from the Public Investment Fund has been crucial for various projects in the Medina region, including the Medina Visions company, Saudi Entertainment Projects (SEVEN), Downtown company, City Heritage company, and other private sector companies. The number of small and medium enterprises has grown by 12%, reaching over 71,000 establishments by the end of 2024.
The Kingdom’s vision has played a key role in enhancing the quality of life, with the City Humanization program improving residential areas and increasing Saudi households’ home ownership to 65%. Public transportation programs like city buses and Bus Rapid Transit have benefited millions of passengers.
In the non-profit sector, Medina has seen remarkable numbers, with over 335 entities engaging more than 100,000 volunteers and accumulating over 4 million volunteer hours. Prince Salman concluded by praying for the protection of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed, and for the continuous prosperity and security of the nation, urging everyone to continue the path of success and excellence towards a more prosperous future.
