King Salman’s Relief Center Launches Hearing Saudi Arabia’s Voluntary Program in Kenya to Plant Sunflowers for Kenyan and Somali Children

Dr. Aqeel bin Jamaan Al-Ghamdi, the Assistant Supervisor General of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, launched the Saudi Hearing Volunteer Program in Kenya today. The program aims to plant cochlear implants and provide auditory rehabilitation for Kenyan and Somali children with the participation of 19 volunteers from various medical specialties. The event was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Kenya, Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Salman, Kenyan Health Minister, Adan Duale, Somali Federal Republic Ambassador to Kenya, Jibril Ibrahim Abdullah, as well as several Arab ambassadors and representatives of international organizations.

During the inauguration ceremony, Dr. Al-Ghamdi mentioned that the volunteer medical team from the center will conduct 25 cochlear implants and auditory rehabilitation surgeries for Kenyan and Somali children as part of the program. Additionally, a training course will be provided for 50 caregivers on how to communicate with cochlear implanted children to help them with verbal communication.

He highlighted that the center reflects the spirit of volunteerism and generosity ingrained in the people of Saudi Arabia. The elite volunteers and specialists dedicate their time and expertise to serve humanity, reaffirming the Kingdom’s position as a beacon of global humanitarian work. This initiative aligns with Vision 2030, aiming to promote a culture of volunteerism among Saudi society.
