Explosive 333% Surge in Licenses Issued for Private Hospitality Facilities Expected by 2024

The initial data from the Ministry of Tourism for the number and percentage of licenses issued during the year 2024 showed a growth of 333% compared to 2023 in the number of licenses for private tourism accommodation facilities. The total licenses issued reached 8,357 compared to 1,929 in 2023.
According to the tourism system, private tourism accommodation facilities are defined as furnished, independent property units owned by individuals and licensed by the Ministry of Tourism, providing daily accommodation services to tourists for a fee.
The Ministry of Tourism’s spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Rassasme, noted that the increasing growth in the number of licenses issued for private tourism accommodation facilities confirms the ministry’s commitment to enabling individual investors in the hospitality sector to obtain the necessary ministry license for operation. This is part of the ministry’s efforts to ensure the improvement of services provided. Al-Rassasme emphasized that these efforts are part of the “Our Guests Priority” campaign, aimed at promoting compliance of accommodation facilities with licensing standards and classifications, and ensuring their adherence to the requirements specified by the tourism system and regulations.
