Second phase of THAAD system deployed at US base Fort Bliss revealed

The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces recently graduated their second secret group specializing in the “Thaad” missile defense system, following the completion of specialized training at Fort Bliss military base in El Paso, Texas, USA. The graduation ceremony was held at the base, attended by the Air Defense Forces Institute commander, Brigadier Abdullah bin Hassan Al-Ruba’a, on behalf of Air Defense Forces commander Major General Mazyad bin Suleiman Al-Amro, along with American representatives and training specialists.

This graduation marks the continuation of the training program that began several months ago to prepare crews for operating and maintaining the “Thaad” system. This system is one of the most advanced and precise missile defense systems globally, serving as a cornerstone of the Kingdom’s air defense system. During the training period, graduates received intensive programs including technical and operational training, combat simulations, and advanced field exercises supervised by experts from the manufacturing company in collaboration with American counterparts under mutual military cooperation agreements.

This training program is part of the Ministry of Defense’s strategy to enhance the capabilities of its forces through qualitative development and professional training to meet modern operational requirements, improving combat readiness and technical expertise in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 objectives in military modernization and technological localization. The Saudi Air Defense Forces continue to implement plans to prepare national cadres capable of managing and operating advanced defense systems to enhance national security and protect Saudi airspace from various potential threats.
