Emergency team successfully resuscitates Moroccan pilgrim at the Grand Mosque

The Saudi Red Crescent teams in Mecca successfully resuscitated a 70-year-old Moroccan pilgrim who suffered a cardiac arrest in the central area of the holy Kaaba. The pilgrim had lost consciousness while heading to the Kaaba, and luckily, a rapid response team was nearby. Thanks to the strategic placement of the emergency teams in the Kaaba area, including the central region and the surrounding areas, as part of a pre-planned scheme for the night of the 27th of Ramadan 1446 AH, the situation was handled promptly.

Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the patient had experienced a cardiac arrest and cessation of breathing. The medical protocol for such cases was immediately implemented by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation using the “LUCAS” chest compression device, along with the application of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) available with the field teams. The patient was then transported to the nearest medical facility for further evaluation and necessary medical care.
